A little background

About me

So here we go. I think this is the third time in my life that the course has had to change, this time around, there was very little I could do about it. The terrible period of Covid came and took away everything we had, but not the substance of our lives, just the material things that shouldn't really matter, but do. What is important is our family, and thank God they got through this and are safe.

With no job and no business, I now want to build a career doing art, I have always been creating, and now I want to share more of what I do. For those who don't know me too well, I will share two secrets with you , but you need to read to the end, sorry. I'll keep it short.

Mission

It's not really a mission, I just want to share my work and creativity with more people. I have worked for the past 28 years working in the publishing industry, mainly on legal publications. I have worked under great pressure and stress, and even moving to Portugal, didn't halt this. I left art after leaving school and art school. my Mum who played a massive role in my life told me I wouldn't make a living from art. When I rediscovered my love for art, in the late 80s told me that "No one paints like you Son." My parents sold lots of my art, they coloured copied my paintings and sold them in the bar, They also sold some of the originals. I now want to work without the pressure and work on something that I love and that I am very passionate about.

My vision

My vision is real life, modern art passed me by and I have no time for it at all. What is important is real people, living real lives, doing real jobs to survive. Also, the places where they live, this is a beautiful planet we live on. One day we're going to stop destroying it, and after Covid wiped out millions of people, we didn't learn a thing, life is too cheap, so when the war in Ukraine started, Man's greed continues to kill innocent people.

I want to bring light into the world and leave it behind for people to enjoy and hopefully love. I want to inspire people. I believe that I have an incredible story to tell and that may be my next project. The book.

This project's a massive leap forward for me, social media has largely passed me by, so Instagram and Facebook pages linked to this website are under development, I hope you enjoy this website, and hopefully, it will grow over time.

Secrets: One. Most people know, I have a disability, at the age of 21 months I caught meningitis, back then in the 1960s no one knew what meningitis was, I was super lucky to have a young Polish doctor who did and managed to stop it before it killed me. I guess I'm never going to win the lottery. The illness left me with a walking disability, which is getting worse as I get older. I've also become lazy and don't exercise enough!!

The second secret is, just before Covid, I started going blind, I had a detached retina in my right eye and a cataract of a 70-year-old man in the left, I had a couple of surgeries trying to fix the retina, the first failed and I ended up with one eye filled with Silicone Oil. So slightly blurred vision on one side and the other eye totally fogging over slowly. Those 10 paintings from the Covid lockdown were painted while almost blind. The surgery has made a massive improvement in my life. The new works are outstanding, I think. Watch this space! The blindness and associated depression couldn't stop me.

I don't want any sympathy or sorrow, I've lived a fantastic life and seen most of this planet we live on. We all have our cross to bear, what I have will never hold me back.
