Here is a small collection of paintings I have created, most of this work was done during the Covid Lockdowns here in Portugal, where we could not travel outside. I have continued and will be constantly adding new works to this site over the coming weeks. My work is created using the highest quality materials from Van Gogh paints and mediums to Di Vinci brushes. The canvas I use is high-quality 280-gram cotton pulled over a wooden stretcher.

Two boats
Oil on Canvas, 40cm x 40cm
A traditional view of the village, with your feet in the sea looking up at the village.
This picture takes you back to before the village was full of restaurants and bars. Before the roundabout and the statute to fishermen or the new art.
O Salvador 2
Oil on Canvas, 40cm x 40cm
A great composition, the sea, so big and strong. Just one man.
I have done another version of this picture, much closer to the guard. But this one has a totally different feel, and I actually like it more than the first one.

When the boat
comes in
Oil on Canvas, 40cm x 40cm
Love this image, again one man against the sea, and didn’t he do well? Taken from behind the old harbor building. Old fisherman preparing the catch for sale.
The Merry Widows
Oil on Canvas, 40cm x 40cm
This image was taken in 1973 by renowned photographer Norman Parkinson, for the magazine Vogue. It has a beautiful composition, I just had to paint it. Parkinson called the model used in this shot the New York bitch. I couldn’t do that so I called this piece “The Merry Widows”.

Orange skies
Oil on Canvas, 40cm x 30cm
So many beautiful sunsets in and around Alvor, and from the harbour building, it’s the perfect place looking out towards Lagos, in the West. Most days are ended by one of these stunning orange skies.

Castelo de
São João do
Arade
Oil on Canvas, 40cm x 50 cm
The castle stands on a very shallow beach which is actually at the Rio do Arade (River Arade). It can be seen from Praia de Rocha, from the Fortaleza de Santa Catarina up above the Marina.
The Scouts have their summer camp from where this picture was taken.
Rua Freddie
Oil on Canvas, 60cm x 100 cm
Taken at night from outside Charlie’s. Down the street a bit and about 15 years ago. Lovely feel and lighting on this piece.
This was a working title that just stuck, the street is called Rua Frederico Ramos Mendes, but Freddie to us.
Surfs up!
Oil on Canvas, 40cm x 40 cm
Before the loss of vision, here is an impression of a lighthouse in a storm. Big seas bring massive drama, I think I caught it in this picture, I've not seen it in a long time, and it's a great work, I love it.

I donated this to my old eye surgeon, I hope he is taking care of it.
